Pray the Rosary - The Rosary Foundation
I was told that praying the rosary is like praying to false idols...is this true?
No, this is not true at all. Those reciting the rosary never worship anyone other than our one true God. Praying the rosary simply asks Mary to come to our aid. She helps us become better prepared to stand in front of God, and she helps us by praying for us. As the Mother of God, she works as our intercessor to bring us closer to her Son than we could have achieved on our own. In actuality, Mary participates in Christ's meditation and does so at His direction.

It is true that Jesus is the only mediator between God and man, and this fact is not lessened when Mary intercedes on our behalf to bring us closer to Jesus. A perfect example of Mary's intercession can be seen in the Bible when she intercedes during the wedding at Cana (John 2:1-12; also known as the 2nd Luminous Mystery). As a direct result of her intercession, Jesus performed a great miracle by turning water into wine.
